SWACHCHATA - Popularising toilets and Vermiculture Pits
Swachchhata means ‘Cleanliness’. This project was started to bring about awareness of general cleanliness among the villagers. It includes educating them about the advantages and health benefits of constructing toilets at home, proper disposal of garbage, keeping the surroundings and environment clean, and using clean water for various household purposes, etc and how one can avoid contracting deadly diseases of both human and animal life. Maher is also educating the villagers about the multiple benefits of having Vermi-compost Pits, that it is not only a better way of disposing bio-degradable waste but the organic matter from such pits can be used as a good fertilizer in their fields.
