The Maher has a board comprising directors who meet regularly. The Board is a team of seven individuals who are elected by the General Body of our organization. Our members come from many different backgrounds and have a wide range of abilities and passions which work together well to serve the goals of our organization. These are some of the responsibilities and duties of Board members:

  • Integrity of our financial reporting
  • Compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, internal standards, policies and expectations
  • Management and appointment of staff
  • Approval of volunteers, construction and major projects
  • Establishment our objectives, purposes and policies

 

Sr. Lucy Kurien Founder Director Executive Director of Maher, conceptualised and founded Maher in 1997. A mother figure behind all Maher activities, she ensures that Maher strives hard to make its vision a reality. A devout Catholic, Sister Lucy is a firm believer in the interfaith ideology. She was awarded in 1916 the prestigious ‘Nari Shakti Puraskar' at the hands of the then President of India, Shri Pranab Mukerjee. Hirabegum Mulla President The President of Maher, joined Maher in 1998. Professionally trained in social work, she is an integral part of the day-to-day operations at Maher. Dr. Nicola Pawar Secretary A formally trained medical doctor, is associated with Maher since 2006. On the Board since 2008, Dr. Pawar regularly helps Maher to organize immunization drives and health check-ups for its women, men and children. Dr. Pradeep K. Sharma Trustee Dr Pradeep Sharma, MD, ensures a healthy and happy Maher. With Maher since 2003, he is a valuable help in organizing regular clinical examinations and immunization drives at Maher. Aniruddha Gadankush Trustee An MBA from the renowned Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune, has been associated with Maher for more than 10 years. An internationally certified trainer, he imparts Capacity Building training to the staff and youth of Maher. He joined the Board in 2019. Mercy Mendoca Trustee Who holds a bachelor's degree in social work has a rich experience of working with Adivasis, street children and unisex persons. She was also a part of relief work during the Latur earthquake and the Babri Masjid riots in Mumbai. Yogesh Bhor Trustee Is a formally trained engineer. A BE in electronics and telecommunications, he works at Pamten Software Pvt Ltd, Hyderabad and joined the Board in 2020. He grew up in Maher and made Maher proud that he was the first Maher student to be a Board Member.
