Homes for destitute, battered, physically challenged, and old age women

The word ‘Matruchaya’ means the loving shadow of mothers for their children. Women come to Maher with various issues including different kinds of emotional, psychological, social, and financial problems. Maher welcomes them and supports them in every possible way to help them through their problems.

Maher has touched the lives of more than 4637 women in the last 26 years. Some of the women have chosen to get professionally trained and are working as nurses, social workers, and housemothers. Some of them enrolled for further studies. Many of these women come from difficult situations and some have faced violence; they are widows, destitute, elderly, mentally challenged, and unwanted pregnant women/girls. Maher started with only one home for destitute women; gradually the numbers have increased and at the same time the service was extended to the mentally challenged women.
